Honouring those who change the lives of others, the Laurie Normand-Starr Humanitarian Award has been created in memory of a woman who volunteered her time and energy to put an end to childhood hunger.

Laurie Normand-Starr’s legacy will highlight the link between education and hunger. Laurie was the driving force behind the successful Taste of the Nation (TON) event, which raised funds for organizations helping families in need. TON attracted Montréal’s top chefs and media celebrities and sold out annually for 14 years.

Laurie’s efforts are perpetuated with the Award which will be presented at the annual Table of Hope event at Le Salon Richmond.

Let us strive to perpetuate the heritage Laurie left us by making our own those values which so marked us and made her exceptional in our eyes.

She possessed a true talent to make us feel that we mattered to her. She cultivated this gift by telling a story, preparing a meal or merely by including us into her life in a way that was both spontaneous and sincere.

That we should brighten others lives in these simple ways is the most lasting tribute.
